Our Little Nativity

What can I say!! FS2 have got it all…we have brilliant performers, confident speakers and they loved singing. We are still singing the songs now!

Christingle was an amazing event. All the children really enjoyed the service!

Our Christmas Lists

After spending all week writing our Christmas lists, today we have been really excited, as we walked to the post box to post our Christmas list!

FS2 Library trip.

“I love coming to the library … it’s so much fun!” said Zuzanna as we left the library. At the library, we used ‘We are going on a bear hunt’ story sack to tell the story; we sang and played musical instruments, we made the 5 little the monkeys jump and fall off the bed; and we chose books and read with our friends before heading to school.

Remembrance week

Thank you to all the parents who attended the phonics and reading workshop on Monday 🙂

We have been very busy again this week and on the way we have wowed visitors who came to observe us! We have been told that our children are happy, confident, and are independently engaging with their learning. This is evidence of children taking ownership of their learning at school and hopefully they will continue doing so throughout school.

This week we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We listened to stories about Remembrance Day and made poppies. In maths we have continued to explore the value of different coins (mainly 1p and 2p).

In Literacy we have stated writing simple sentence. We have been focusing on remembering to start with a capital letter, finger spaces and full stops.

Remembrance week

1st week back!

Welcome back everybody! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Mrs Bate, our new F2 teacher. She will be working with us in the mornings five days a week. She has lots of experience in EYFS 🙂

Our topic this term is ‘Colour and Light’. In math we are learning the values of different coins. We have introduced 1p this week and we will introduce 2p and 5p next week. We have been estimating sweets, counters and money and then checking by counting. Ask your child what estimating means?

The market (Home Corner) is very popular with children. They love pretending to go and buy fruits and vegetables and exchanging money. The role play area is also a hit! It is a dark bears’ cave. Children really enjoy going in the cave to read and explore. Using the torches, they search for high frequency words and nocturnal animals.

Having Halloween in the same week has been an exciting and, I am sure, an exhausting week, for both the kids and parents!

Exploring and Land Art in the woods!

Last week and this week, FS2 children have gone in the woods to explore the changes in the environment and use natural resources in the wood to create pictures. The children were amazing. They were engaged and very creative. We had pictures of butterflies, foxes, smile faces, spiders, caterpillars and hedgehogs. We talked about symmetry lines, especially with butterflies. We also looked at the environment and discussed Autumn and how the colour of leaves change and falls off the trees, getting ready to go to sleep in Winter. Lots of children are concerned about food for the birds in Winter. After a class discussion we all agreed to make some bird feeders for the birds and take them on our next visit into the woods.
